The Swedish alphabet, including Å, Ä and Ö
Swedish uses the same letters as English, plus three of its own at the end of the alphabet: Å, Ä and Ö. Lingava has a flip card for every letter, with its sound and an example word.
- Ååttaeight
- Ääppleapple
- Öögaeye
- sjsjuseven
A new Swedish word every day
The word of the day is an everyday Swedish word with its English meaning. Then you see it highlighted in a short example sentence, so you learn how it is really used.
Swedish sounds that need practice
Some Swedish sounds have no match in English. Lingava gives them their own cards with a simple tip on how to say them, like the sj in sju (seven) and the tj in tjugo (twenty).
Related words come on days in a row, so a set like greetings, question words or the days of the week is learned together. Here are a few you will meet:
| hej | hello | |
| hej då | goodbye | |
| tack | thank you | |
| tack, snälla | please | |
| förlåt | sorry | |
| välkommen | welcome | |
| vad | what | |
| vem | who | |
| var | where | |
| när | when | |
| varför | why |
